"6 Sides 2 Every Story"

I am currently participating in the “6 Sides 2 Every Story” art collaboration organized by Candace Nicol. This project is funded by grants from the Nevada Arts Council, and Sierra Arts Foundation.

Candace introduces the project by saying, "As humans, we have the incredible ability to perceive the same events as completely different happenings. This collaboration project will give consideration to these individual points of view."

"Participants are asked to illustrate their own individual perspectives by carving one side of a wooden cube. Each cube will represent one current issue found in a national/international article, internet posting, or magazine. This project will expand across the United States, starting with 100 (2"x2"x2") cubes, 600 participants."

The theme for my cube, begun by ceramic and metal artist Sue Roberts, is "Earth Day: "We have met the enemy and HE is US." The participants of this cube are as follows:

  • Sue Roberts - Nevada — theme originator
  • Ingrid Evans - Nevada
  • Suzanne Morlock - Wyoming
  • Brieid Curran - New Mexico
  • Lili Francuz - Colorado
  • Bart Fetz - Wyoming

The first venue to exhibit the project is Western Nevada College, Carson City from January 25 to February 25. The art galleries at WNC are located in the Bristlecone Building and are open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A book of the prints is slated for later this year. You can see more information on the the blog.

A number of my "Paris Papers" series were shown at the “Creative Spaces" Exhibition in the Lincoln Center, Fort Collins, Colorado from November 21 to December 21, 2009.

This was a large group show with primarily functional objects for the home, including furniture and accessories. My pieces were chosen to provide fine art for the walls of the exhibition.

This was an exhibition of assemblage and collage works from 22 artists from the U.S. and Canada. The opening date of the exhibition coincided with November's First Friday Gallery Walk in the Santa Fe Art District.

I gave out the awards for the RSVP Annual Art Exhibit in Cheyenne, Wyoming, December 1 to 22, 2009. The exhibit was at the Laramie County Library. I also gave a workshop called "A Look at Collage" on December 13th.
