The Visual Diary series is the beginning of my extensive use of the transfer process incorporating a variety of previously-printed papers. These were done on BFK paper on board and unframed with no glass covering the image. A number were done as diptichs.
Here, collected school papers are incorporated as well as fabric and parts and pieces of previously-printed woodcuts on paper. Using school papers is an opportunity to incorporate portions of text whether readable or not.
Elements are included by chance or simply because the color or shape fits in the composition. At other times, images become a part of the work because of the subtle references they might inspire.
